Une autre population existe uniquement dans le centre de la France : au sud du Massif Central. Bien qu'elle ait déjà été capturée ponctuellement dans le Gard et la Drôme, le noyau de population le plus important est situé en Ardèche. Localisée, cette espèce est présente des bords du Rhône à la montagne jusqu'à 1300m. Peut être commune dans ses stations, notamment d'altitude, au bord des chemins, dans les lieux ouverts. L'imago est actif en journée et s'envole facilement des touffes de son unique plante nourricière : linaire rampante (Linaria repens). Vient à la lumière. La chrysalide hiverne. Malgré son extrême localisation, ce papillon ne paraît pas en danger dans notre pays. Période de vol VI-VII.
